How jaNaDeTect™ Works
jaNaDeTect™ equipment and reading process
jaNaDeTect™ is easy to use, compact and affordable. Leveraging A-scan ultrasound technology, jaNaDeTect™ works to ensure reliability and reduce risk of pipeline failure.
The jaNaDeTect™ system consists of a ruggedized laptop or tablet, jaNaDeTect™ Software, Ultrasound Hardware Key and several A-Scan Ultrasonic probes with different sizes for different diameter ranges.
Hardware Elements of jaNaDeTect™
The sinusoidal wave output from an A-scan contains a significant amount of information about the substrate through which the sound passes. The image below shows how the probes are positioned to obtain this waveform.
Software Inspection Grid
The inspection is a point-by-point process. An inspection grid is applied to the joint, similar to the one below, and readings are taken for each point. The software will provide a green, yellow or red output. It is an audit process, so only a subset of these points need to be inspected.
The output of the inspection is a colorful grid. If anomalies are found, the software directs the operator to size the anomaly. The software will begin to recognize patterns of anomalies and provide a pass/fail rating when the inspection is complete.
